New book release: Japanese Gardens
About the book
Sometimes less is more. That's the case with Japanese Gardens, the new book by tour guide and author, Athol Parks.
The book is a travelogue, and a primer on gardens and gardening in Japan. Twenty years ago, the author lived and worked in a traditional house and garden in Kyushu. That experience is recounted here, along with impressions and insights formed on a more-recent visit to celebrated gardens in Kyoto and Kanazawa.
Colour photographs are a feature of this limited-edition book, which was designed, printed and bound in Dunedin.
Author Athol Parks discussed Japanese Gardens with Kay Mercer in an interview that featured on the 'Recollections Radio' show on Otago Access Radio (105.4fm), April 18, 2022. He also talked about the tours he operates, and his 2021 book Alert Level Four. Here's the link: http://accessmedia.nz/Player.aspx?eid=44faa347-0f45-41a6-855a-e973576ea894
